The smell of bread – spicy and savoury – baked with love in the oven to share with loved ones, has accompanied our company since its beginnings.
In 1960, Johann Reichhalter began his career as a baker, and his passion for bread eventually led him to open his own bakery in Rentsch, a neighborhood in Bolzano on the northern slopes of the city, in 1972.
The satisfaction and praise of his customers for his passionately crafted baked goods grew year after year.
In 1997, his son Erwin—brimming with enthusiasm and innovative ideas—joined the business to carry on the family tradition. Four years later, he expanded the company by opening a new location in Barbian, just outside Bolzano. Today, Erwin has transformed the bakery into a modern enterprise that meets the evolving demands of the market, while preserving the zeal and passion essential for producing the high‑quality products that reach our tables daily—infused with all the tradition and excellence of South Tyrol.
In 2001, we opened our production facility in Barbiano. Since then, we have focused on crafting mini Schüttelbrot, traditional Schüttelbrot, and classic Italian baked goods such as grissini and crostini. All of our products can be enjoyed on their own as natural snacks or used as a base for hearty finger foods, as a treat between meals, or as a small appetizer. We use only the finest ingredients nature has to offer in the preparation of our snack breads – without any additives or preservatives.
2023 marked an important milestone: Fritz & Felix relocated its headquarters from Barbiano to Bolzano. In South Tyrol’s capital, there is now ample space to grow, innovate, and continue producing delicious crunchy specialties.
